Fundacja im. Friedricha Eberta (FES) należy do socjaldemokratycznej wspólnoty wartości i ruchu związkowego w Niemczech. Jej przedstawicielstwo w Polsce stanowi integralny element współpracy polsko-niemieckiej. Biuro FES w Warszawie zostało otwarte w 1990 roku. Współpraca z polskimi partnerami polega na wymianie idei oraz opinii w formie konferencji, programów wymiany oraz publikacji.
Towarzyszenie demokratycznym kierunkom rozwoju w Polsce poprzez podejmowanie poszczególnych tematów z obszaru demokracji i społeczeństwa obywatelskiego, polityki gospodarczej, społecznej i ochrony środowiska, ale też w obszarze polityki regionalnej i samorządowej. Przekrojowo traktujemy przy tym kwestię równouprawnienia płci.
Wzmocnienie związków zawodowych poprzez współpracę z trzema centralami związkowymi będącymi członkami Europejskiej Konfederacji Związków Zawodowych - FZZ, NSZZ "Solidarność" oraz OPZZ, a także ich organizacjami branżowymi. Szczególną wagę przypisujemy przy tym kwestii dialogu i współpracy w duchu solidarności między polskimi i niemieckimi związkami zawodowymi.
Najważniejsze tematy to: przyszły kształt Europy, Europa socjalna, europejska polityka zagraniczna i bezpieczeństwa, a także Partnerstwo Wschodnie i współpraca w regionie Morza Bałtyckiego.
W tym polu znajduje się praca nad pamięcią o wspólnej przeszłości, a zwłaszcza o niemieckich zbrodniach w Polsce.
